3D Artist

Our client needs a 3D Artist to build game-ready ship assets for real-time simulators used in research, training and education. You will turn technical drawings into optimized, editable models and textures that perform beautifully in interactive environments.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is building real-time ship simulators that support research, training and education. The ambition is not a game for entertainment; it is a living simulation environment where vessels must look credible, behave correctly and remain performant on real hardware. Fifteen ships are waiting to be brought to life from technical drawings, reference photographs and engineering material. Each exterior asset, and potentially each interior space, must feel authentic while staying optimized for real-time use. The 3D Artist will join a multidisciplinary team where visual craft meets engineering precision, and where a beautiful model is only successful if it runs smoothly, ships cleanly and remains editable by the next artist.

ACTIVITIES

  • Create game-ready exterior and potentially interior 3D assets for 15 ships using technical drawings and reference material.
  • Optimise models, UVs and textures for real-time applications without sacrificing visual credibility.
  • Deliver finished models together with editable source files and clean asset structures.
  • Collaborate with technical artists, developers and subject-matter experts to respect simulation constraints.
  • Maintain naming conventions, LODs and material organization across the asset set.
  • Iterate based on feedback from visual reviews and performance tests.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • A complete, consistent set of ship assets ready for integration into real-time simulators.
  • Strong visual fidelity balanced with smooth runtime performance.
  • Clean, editable source files that support future maintenance and reuse.
  • Asset pipelines and documentation that make collaboration easier for the whole team.

ENVIRONMENT

  • 3D modelling and texturing tools such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max and Substance Painter.
  • Real-time engines and optimisation practices for interactive simulation.
  • Technical drawings, reference libraries and asset management conventions.
  • A multidisciplinary environment combining art, engineering and simulation expertise.
