Data Manager
Secure a central data governance role where quality, integrity, and regulatory confidence are treated as strategic assets. You will act as the trusted ambassador who turns data-by-design principles into everyday practice across projects, processes, and systems.
CONTEXT
Our client, a major player in its sector, is strengthening the foundations of a data landscape that supports critical decisions, regulated processes, and complex business tribes. The organisation knows that data is only valuable when it is trusted, protected, and owned with clarity, so it is creating a visible governance role that connects policy, culture, and delivery. This mission sits at the intersection of compliance and operational reality: regulatory expectations such as GDPR and BCBS 239 must become practical habits, while project teams need simple ways to design data quality and protection from the very first sprint.
ACTIVITIES
- Act as the data governance ambassador within the assigned perimeter and tribe.
- Define, monitor, and improve data quality controls, ownership models, and data lineage practices.
- Translate regulatory and Group policy requirements into clear, usable guidance for delivery teams.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to embed data-by-design principles into processes, projects, and systems.
- Lead data governance rituals, reviews, and escalation paths so accountability remains visible.
- Support risk assessments, issue remediation, and documentation of critical data flows.
- Coach teams on data protection, integrity, and responsible data usage.
EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
The role will make data governance tangible rather than theoretical: clearer ownership, stronger quality controls, faster remediation, and fewer surprises during audits. You will help the organisation demonstrate that regulatory compliance and delivery speed can coexist, creating a data culture where protection and quality are built in from the start. Success will be visible in improved trust from business stakeholders, smoother project approvals, and a lasting shift toward accountable data stewardship.
ENVIRONMENT
You will work in a structured enterprise environment shaped by regulatory frameworks, data governance policies, and cross-functional tribes. The technology and methodology landscape includes data quality assessments, lineage and metadata practices, GDPR and BCBS 239 requirements, risk and control frameworks, and collaborative ways of working across business and IT. The role calls for analytical rigour, strong stakeholder influence, and a pragmatic approach to embedding governance without slowing delivery.
