DevOps Engineer

Elevate the software delivery experience by designing and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines for critical applications, ensuring seamless development from code to production. Champion developer productivity and operational excellence across the entire software development lifecycle for a leading technology innovator.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is experiencing rapid growth and an increasing demand for faster, more reliable software releases. The pace of innovation requires a meticulously crafted and highly automated software delivery pipeline that not only accelerates deployment but also empowers developers to focus on building great features without operational overhead. This role is crucial in transforming the development landscape, moving from traditional, potentially manual processes to a state-of-the-art Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) ecosystem. You will be at the heart of improving the developer experience, making their day-to-day work more efficient, enjoyable, and impactful. This is an opportunity to shape the future of software engineering practices within a dynamic and forward-thinking organization.

ACTIVITIES

As a DevOps Engineer specializing in CI/CD and Developer Experience, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated pipelines for software delivery. Your core activities will include configuring and maintaining CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins, ensuring smooth and rapid integration and deployment of applications. You will work extensively with containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and OpenShift to manage and scale applications efficiently. A significant part of your role will involve enhancing the overall developer experience, from streamlining IDE setup and local development environments to improving testing frameworks and deployment strategies. You will troubleshoot build and deployment issues, implement infrastructure-as-code principles, and collaborate closely with development teams to gather feedback and implement solutions that foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Your focus will be on the .NET application ecosystem, ensuring tailored and optimized solutions.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Your success will be measured by a significant improvement in the speed, reliability, and security of the software delivery lifecycle. You will achieve faster release cycles, substantially reducing the time from code commit to production deployment. By minimizing manual errors and automating routine tasks, you will enhance deployment stability and reduce system downtime. A key achievement will be a noticeable improvement in developer satisfaction and productivity, as friction points in their workflow are eliminated, allowing them to innovate more freely. You will contribute to a more resilient and scalable infrastructure, capable of supporting the client's growing application portfolio, and ensure that security best practices are embedded throughout the CI/CD pipelines, ultimately strengthening the client's ability to deliver high-quality software at an accelerated pace.

ENVIRONMENT

The environment is highly technical and modern, centered around robust DevOps practices. You will primarily work with a suite of cutting-edge tools including GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation, Jenkins for complex pipeline orchestration, and containerization technologies such as Docker. Application deployment and management are orchestrated via Kubernetes and OpenShift, providing a powerful platform for scalable microservices. The core application stack is based on .NET, requiring a solid understanding of the ecosystem. You will leverage infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for environment provisioning, and version control is managed through Git. Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) will be beneficial for maintaining operational visibility. You will operate within an Agile development framework, fostering collaboration and continuous delivery.
