Geospatial Data Engineer

Shape the geospatial data backbone of an interactive mapping platform by designing robust integration workflows and keeping critical spatial datasets reliable. The mission combines FME automation, PostGIS data engineering and hands-on spatial analysis in a hybrid Brussels context.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is building and enriching an interactive mapping platform that turns complex geospatial data into clear operational insight. Behind the visible map sits a fragile ecosystem of sources, formats, projections and quality rules; the Geodata Engineer will be the person who brings order, repeatability and confidence to that ecosystem. Working in a hybrid setup in Brussels, the engineer will help teams move from one-off data handling to durable, documented and automated geospatial workflows.

ACTIVITIES

Manage, analyse and disseminate geospatial data across the mapping platform and its stakeholders.
Design data integration workflows using FME, connecting heterogeneous sources into reliable spatial datasets.
Manage PostgreSQL and PostGIS datasets, including modelling, queries, quality checks and performance tuning.
Perform spatial analyses and translate results into usable mapping layers and decision-support information.
Support the interactive mapping platform, troubleshoot data issues and improve publication processes.
Document workflows, apply data-quality rules and promote geospatial best practices across the team.
