CONTEXT

In the realm of national operations, where every system and service is mission-critical, the introduction of new technologies or significant updates carries immense responsibility. Our client, a major player in its sector, is undergoing continuous modernization to maintain its technological edge and operational effectiveness. This dynamic environment requires an expert hand to guide the journey of every change, release, and new service from development to the operational "run" organization. Without a rigorous, controlled transition, even the most innovative solutions can falter. You would be the linchpin in this process, ensuring that cutting-edge IT services are delivered not just effectively, but flawlessly, safeguarding the stability and performance of vital national infrastructure that supports the well-being of its citizens.

ACTIVITIES

As a Senior IT Service Transition Specialist, your mission is to orchestrate the controlled transfer of all IT changes, releases, and new or adapted services into the operational landscape. This involves meticulously planning and coordinating every step, from initial handover documentation and training to stakeholder communication and readiness assessments. You will be responsible for defining and implementing robust transition strategies, ensuring that all operational teams are fully prepared to support new services from day one. This includes establishing clear service acceptance criteria, conducting thorough risk assessments, and developing comprehensive back-out plans. You will act as the central coordinator, bridging communication between development teams, project managers, and operational support, ensuring all parties are aligned and informed throughout the transition lifecycle. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in post-implementation reviews, identifying lessons learned and driving continuous improvement in the transition process.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Your successful transitions will directly contribute to enhanced operational stability and significantly reduce incidents post-deployment. You will accelerate the time-to-market for new and updated services, allowing the organization to leverage technological advancements more rapidly and reliably. By establishing clear, repeatable processes, you will professionalize the service transition function, making it a predictable and efficient component of the IT lifecycle. Your expertise will minimize business disruption, safeguard critical national services, and build confidence across the entire organization in its ability to adapt and evolve its technological landscape seamlessly.

ENVIRONMENT

You will operate within a highly structured IT Service Management (ITSM) framework, heavily leveraging principles from ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and potentially elements of DevOps. Your daily toolkit will include enterprise-grade ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) for managing changes, incidents, and releases. You will collaborate extensively with various technical and business teams, requiring excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. The environment demands a strong focus on process adherence, documentation, and continuous improvement, all within a secure and regulated setting that underlines the importance of national security and public service integrity. Active knowledge of Dutch, English, and French is a prerequisite, reflecting the multilingual nature of the operational context.
