Lead Data Scientist

Lead the charge in AI innovation, guiding advanced data science projects from conception to robust deployment within a transformative data ecosystem. You will shape the future of artificial intelligence governance, ensuring ethical and compliant AI solutions across the enterprise.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is at the forefront of a profound data-driven transformation. This isn't just about optimizing existing processes; it's about reimagining their entire operational landscape through the power of data and Artificial Intelligence. The Data Tribe is the beating heart of this revolution, and within it, the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Analytics & AI stands as the innovation hub. This pivotal team is tasked with unlocking unprecedented value from vast datasets, developing intelligent solutions that will redefine customer experiences, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. As the digital frontier expands, the imperative for robust and ethical AI governance becomes paramount, not only to ensure compliance with groundbreaking regulations like the EU AI Act but also to build public trust and maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving market. This role is a unique opportunity to lead this transformative journey, translating complex challenges into cutting-edge AI solutions that impact the entire organization.

ACTIVITIES

  • Spearhead the end-to-end lifecycle of advanced Data Science and Artificial Intelligence use cases, from initial strategic scoping and detailed requirements gathering to model development, rigorous testing, and seamless deployment into production environments.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to a talented team of data scientists and AI engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, best practices, and continuous learning.
  • Act as a key architect in the definition, design, and meticulous implementation of an enterprise-wide AI governance framework, aligning rigorously with Group standards and anticipating future regulatory landscapes, including the stringent requirements of the EU AI Act.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business units, IT teams, and compliance officers to identify new AI opportunities, ensure solution alignment with strategic objectives, and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Drive the adoption of MLOps principles and agile methodologies to streamline AI model development, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of all AI assets.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Successful delivery and measurable impact of at least 3-5 critical, high-value AI solutions within the first year, directly contributing to enhanced business performance and innovation.
  • Establishment of a comprehensive and operational enterprise-wide AI governance framework, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., EU AI Act) and fostering responsible AI development across the organization.
  • Elevated technical capabilities and proficiency within the CoE Analytics & AI team, evidenced by improved project velocity, quality of output, and the growth of individual team members.
  • Become a recognized thought leader and trusted advisor within the organization on all matters related to advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and ethical AI deployment.
  • Significantly contribute to the client's reputation as a leader in data-driven innovation and responsible AI stewardship within its sector.

ENVIRONMENT

The role operates within a dynamic "Data Tribe" structure, emphasizing collaboration and agile development. You will leverage a modern data stack, likely including cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop), and a rich ecosystem of machine learning tools and frameworks (e.g., Python with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Methodologies embrace Agile and DevOps/MLOps practices for continuous integration and delivery of AI models. A strong emphasis is placed on data quality, data governance, and adherence to emerging ethical AI guidelines and regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act. This is a fast-paced environment where innovation is encouraged, and continuous learning is a core value.
