Program Director

Lead a global cyber securitization program for a major player in its sector, transforming security strategy into concrete, worldwide deployment. The role combines executive-level reporting, complex stakeholder orchestration, and end-to-end ownership of mission-critical security initiatives.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, has launched an ambitious global cyber securitization program to harden its terminals, assets, and digital backbone against a fast-evolving threat landscape. The initiative is not a simple technology upgrade: it is a strategic response to growing regulatory pressure, operational risk, and the need to protect critical infrastructure across multiple geographies. The Essential Security Program sits at the heart of this transformation, with the goal of creating a unified security baseline that can be deployed consistently while respecting local constraints. The program director will inherit a complex, multi-year, multi-site environment where legacy systems, operational technology, and business-critical applications must be secured without slowing down the business.

ACTIVITIES

  • Define and own the program vision, roadmap, and governance model, ensuring alignment with C-level strategic priorities.
  • Lead deployment and run teams, creating a clear operating rhythm across security, infrastructure, application, and business teams.
  • Orchestrate stakeholders across regions, functions, and external partners, from technical experts to executive sponsors.
  • Drive projects from initial study through implementation, including scoping, business cases, technical and functional specifications, planning, budgeting, and performance evaluation.
  • Establish executive reporting, dashboards, and risk reviews that give C-level leaders a reliable view of progress, dependencies, and residual risk.
  • Manage escalations, arbitrate trade-offs, and ensure that security requirements are embedded into delivery rather than bolted on at the end.
  • Coach project managers and workstream leads, raising the overall delivery maturity of the program.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Deliver the Essential Security Program on time, on budget, and with measurable reduction in cyber exposure across the organization.
  • Create a repeatable global security deployment model that can be adapted to local regulations, operational realities, and business needs.
  • Give executive leadership confidence and visibility through accurate reporting, proactive risk management, and transparent decision-making.
  • Leave behind stronger internal capabilities: empowered teams, documented standards, and a culture where cybersecurity is a shared operational priority.
  • Secure critical assets, protect brand trust, and enable the business to expand into new markets with a resilient security foundation.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Global, multi-site enterprise environment with critical operational technology and complex legacy integration.
  • Frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and sector-specific security requirements.
  • Program and portfolio management tooling, executive dashboards, risk registers, and stage-gate governance.
  • Agile, hybrid, and waterfall delivery models depending on the workstream.
  • Collaboration with C-level sponsors, regional directors, security architects, infrastructure teams, application owners, and external vendors.
