Senior Functional Analyst

A multi-year transformation of a member-and-benefits platform needs a senior analyst who can turn complex business questions into clear functional specifications. This role combines business analysis, stakeholder alignment, and quality assurance in a regulated environment where precision matters.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is embarking on a multi-year transformation of a platform that manages member data, contributions, and benefits. The system sits at the heart of complex processes where accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance are essential. New functionalities must be designed without disrupting existing operations, and every decision must stand up to scrutiny from business users, auditors, and technical teams. The programme needs a senior functional analyst who can listen carefully, structure ambiguity, and translate business needs into specifications that developers can build with confidence. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity and who can act as a trusted bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams.

ACTIVITIES

  • Translate business questions and needs into structured functional specifications and user stories.
  • Conduct business analysis workshops, map current processes, and identify impacts on the platform.
  • Manage stakeholders across business, technical, and compliance functions, ensuring alignment and clear decision-making.
  • Support quality assurance by defining acceptance criteria, reviewing test scenarios, and validating delivered functionality.
  • Produce and maintain documentation, process flows, and functional reference materials.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, testers, and project managers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Help prioritise requirements and ensure that solutions respect regulatory and operational constraints.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Deliver clear, actionable functional specifications that reduce rework and improve delivery predictability.
  • Build strong stakeholder confidence through transparent analysis, structured documentation, and reliable follow-up.
  • Ensure new functionalities integrate cleanly with existing member, contribution, and benefits processes.
  • Improve quality through robust acceptance criteria and close attention to functional detail.
  • Leave a sustainable analysis baseline that supports future phases of the transformation.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Functional analysis, business process modelling, stakeholder management, documentation, quality assurance, and acceptance testing.
  • A regulated financial, social, or public-sector context with strong compliance expectations.
  • Collaborative project delivery with business analysts, architects, developers, testers, and programme stakeholders.
