Senior Product Owner

Join a global industry leader as a Senior Product Owner to steer a strategic product initiative in Marseille. This six-month mission offers a unique chance to shape high-impact solutions within a fast-paced, international environment.

CONTEXT

In the vibrant port city of Marseille, where ancient trade routes meet modern innovation, our client, a major player in its sector, is orchestrating a quiet revolution. Behind the scenes, a strategic product initiative has reached a critical inflection point. The organization has invested heavily in a new digital backbone, but the bridge between business vision and technical execution is still under construction. They are seeking a Senior Product Owner to become the keystone of this transformation. The mission spans six months, with the possibility of extension, and operates under a rigorous prequalification framework that demands proven expertise. You will join a multicultural team that thrives on complexity and is unafraid to challenge the status quo. The deadline for candidate submissions is tight, reflecting the urgency and importance of this hire. The client needs someone who can navigate ambiguity, inspire cross-functional teams, and turn a high-level roadmap into concrete, value-driven increments.

ACTIVITIES

As the Senior Product Owner, you will be the voice of the customer and the guardian of the product vision. Your days will be a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You will:

  • Define and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and release plan to all stakeholders.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, data analysts, and business leaders to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather requirements and validate assumptions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, analyze user feedback, and iterate on features to maximize value.
  • Manage dependencies and risks across multiple teams, escalating when necessary.
  • Champion continuous improvement and agile best practices across the organization.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and steering committees.
  • Ensure that the product complies with regulatory and quality standards relevant to the sector.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

By the end of this six-month mission, you will have delivered a tangible, measurable impact. Success means:

  • A fully prioritized, transparent product backlog that the development team can execute with confidence.
  • At least two major product increments shipped to production, each delivering measurable business value.
  • Improved alignment between business stakeholders and technical teams, evidenced by faster decision-making and fewer escalations.
  • A clear, actionable product roadmap for the next 12 months, endorsed by executive sponsors.
  • Enhanced team velocity and predictability, with a reduction in unplanned work and scope creep.
  • A robust set of product metrics and dashboards that provide ongoing visibility into performance.
  • Strong relationships with key stakeholders, positioning you as a trusted advisor for future initiatives.
  • A legacy of agile maturity that continues to benefit the organization long after your mission ends.

ENVIRONMENT

Our client fosters a dynamic, international environment where English is the primary language of business. You will work within a scaled agile framework, likely SAFe or a hybrid model, and use tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps. The tech stack is modern and cloud-based, with microservices, APIs, and data-driven applications. Methodologies include Scrum, Kanban, and Design Thinking. The team is distributed across Europe, requiring excellent remote collaboration skills and flexibility for occasional travel. You will interact with product managers, engineering leads, UX researchers, and C-level executives. The culture is fast-paced, results-oriented, and deeply committed to innovation. If you thrive on complexity and want to leave a lasting mark on a global industry, this is your stage.
