Test Automation Engineer

Join a high-impact modernization program where you will architect automated testing for cloud-native, API-driven public services. Your expertise will ensure quality, security, and performance across a complex ecosystem of microservices and CI/CD pipelines.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is undertaking a once-in-a-generation modernization of a critical case-management platform. The existing eDossier system has served as the backbone for sensitive, high-volume processes, but it must now evolve into a cloud-native, API-first architecture. You will join a multidisciplinary team at the intersection of public service, technology, and data protection, where every test you design helps safeguard fairness, traceability, and trust. The program is not merely a technical upgrade; it is a strategic transformation that will affect thousands of professionals and citizens.

ACTIVITIES

  • Design and implement an agile, automated test strategy for cloud-native, API, and microservices-based solutions.
  • Build and maintain functional, API, integration, security, performance, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and champion shift-left quality practices.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and business experts to define acceptance criteria.
  • Produce clear test plans, reports, and risk assessments for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement of test tooling, frameworks, and processes.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • A robust, maintainable automation framework that reduces regression risk and accelerates releases.
  • Reliable quality gates that catch defects early and protect sensitive data across the platform.
  • Measurable improvements in test coverage, release confidence, and time-to-market.
  • A culture of quality embedded in agile teams, with reusable assets and clear documentation.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Cloud-native architectures, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven patterns.
  • CI/CD tooling, version control, containerization, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Test automation frameworks for API, UI, performance, and security testing.
  • Agile/Scrum ways of working, with hybrid collaboration (three days on-site in Brussels).
  • English as the working language, with Dutch and/or French for stakeholder interaction.
